The recent ruling that Corby Borough Council mishandled the disposal of toxic waste highlights the devastation that can arise from environmental hazards. Dozens of children in the Northamptonshire town were born with deformities that their families argued could have been caused by exposure to contaminants when waste was transported from a former steelworks.
